Why the 6?
The stand-out appeal of this car remains the attention Mazda's engineers have paid to the touchy-feely sports car stuff- both inside and underneath. It's a car that feels alive at the fingertips, and more than willing to entertain owners who love driving, while the added hatchback utility of the "Sport" model makes it well adapted to keeping up with a busy lifestyle.
Short on a few features it may be, but as a sensible and sporty hatch, it's a toughie to match. A new model is due for 2009.

The Mazda6 manages to hug the road well enough to qualify it as a sporty handler. |
