4th generation a success

Gatineau (QC) and Calabogie (ON). Mercedes-Benz Canada invited Canadian automotive journalists to test-drive the new C-Class sedans on Quebec's roads and on the new Calabogie track, to discover their temperament. Although it was officially launched in 1993, the C-Class was preceded by the famous 190 sedan. The C-Class is the German manufacturer's best-selling vehicle and has become the spearhead model. The fourth generation will surely continue the trend.

Three versions are available on the Canadian market - the C300, the C300 Sport and the C350.

Our first impressions are positive. The cars are more spacious and a joy to drive. They instill a sense of security that gives the driver confidence on the road.

Three versions in Canada
Mercedes-Benz Canada has chosen three versions for our market, two of which are destined for the C300. Staying true to traditional buyers, the German manufacturer is importing a classic-style model. This C300 will be recognizable by its flared grille and the star symbol on its hood. But the market for small luxury sedans evolves rapidly. Since younger buyers are looking for sporty vehicles, the C300 is also available in a sport package, at no extra charge. It includes the AMG apron kit, 17-inch alloy wheels, and better calibrated suspension and brakes. The C350 models are only available in the standard sport package, which includes the AMG's stylish rims. The design of these C-Class models was inspired by the brand's sports cars. The wheel arches are wider and more prominent, foreshadowing for the C63AMG coming in 2008. Even the brake lights were redesigned, streamlined to handle air flow like a spoiler.

A basic C300 with manual transmission will be priced at $41,000, the C350 at $47,000. The 4MATIC versions (AWD) of these two models should hit dealerships in December 2007. There will be a $3,700 supplement for the C300 versions (for the automatic transmission), and a $2,200 supplement for the C350.

The C350 comes with the Sport package as standard equipment.
