Trying to pinpoint the Journey's direct adversaries is actually not that easy; for the price, no other SUV or crossover offers leather seating, room for seven, all-wheel drive and a V6 engine for around $30,000. The Journey is bigger than all those mentioned above, except for the Taurus X.
Conclusion
The Dodge Journey does not revolutionize the crossover segment, but it does offer more interior space and equipment than the competition at a similar price level. The Journey does have its shortcomings; Chrysler should improve the vehicle's build quality a little. I see no problem in increasing the Journey's price by a few hundred bucks for some nicer cockpit materials.
The R/T AWD model looks good and performs well. But personally, I think the Journey SE, well-equipped from only $19,995, is a better value for those who need space for the growing family but who are on a tight budget.
