Dull perfection
Hyundai, Kia, Mazda and Saturn also offer small SUVs, but only their base models are equipped with a 4-cylinder engine. As you can see, the CR-V is among the most expensive of the crowd. Note that the Outlander ES above is the only one without leather seats.

Our loaded EX-L with all-wheel drive breaks the bank at $35,190.

Conclusion
You can’t really go wrong by choosing a CR-V, a competent, no-surprises vehicle. But it has two shortcomings. The first is purely subjective; Honda’s compact car-based truck isn’t an involving machine, a vehicle that’s thrilling to drive and gives you goose bumps when you look at it sitting there in the driveway.

The second is the very optimistic asking price. While the CR-V has a solid reputation for reliability and a strong resale value, there are many SUVs out there that are just as competent and cost much less.
