The excitement division gets a real contender
0-100 km/h bursts take 7.2 seconds, which is about a second quicker than the V6-powered 300 and Charger models as well as the previous 200-hp Grand Prix. At 100 km/h, the engine is spinning at a low 1,800 rpm, which is good for fuel economy. While we're on the subject, our average of 12.6 L/100 km could be better.

The dash is perfectly symmetrical.

Accomodating cockpit
The optional leather seats are very comfortable, but the power-adjustment controls are hard to reach because of obtrusive plastic trim on the seat cushions. The dash is perfectly symmetrical, which means GM can easily invert the steering wheel for right-hand drive markets.

The big Pontiac benefits from a well laid-out cockpit, if you excuse the power window and mirror switches located between the seats instead of on the door panel. The car's switchgear is straightforward and feels solid.

Actually, some interior trim feels a little loose, including the floor console, but overall, the environment is pleasing, and the G8 shares no switches and buttons with other Pontiac models, which isn't a bad thing. The Blaupunkt sound system with 11 speakers performs brilliantly. The Pontiac arguably has a better-looking interior than the Dodge Charger.

Since the G8's a big car, there is no shortage of space, and the rear bench is especially accommodating. The trunk is particularly huge. However, the car unfortunately has wide A- and C-pillars, which diminish outward visibility quite a bit.

The trunk is particularly huge.
