If they had only included the rear side airbags as standard fare instead of charging an extra $450 for them, I’d be standing on my head with praise.

This is a pleasing compact crossover that spans a wide price range - my heavily optioned tester rung the till at $42,275. For the record, that’ll also haul in a V6-powered Mercedes-Benz GLK 4MATIC, another fine compact crossover.
But don’t be discouraged believing it necessary to load-up the Tiguan to make it desirable, I’ve driven the base version and as I said, I came away impressed.
