Seat time
The 2010 TL SH-AWD is one of those cars that I can attest to enjoy driving beyond the norm of cars that I enjoy driving. I’m not certain of how much sense that makes, but I’m certain that you get my drift – as they say. The car is spirited and “together”. It’s as solid as anything out of Europe in this price-range, and just as competent on the road.
Its ride quality is remarkably relaxed and composed. Abrupt road degradation is absorbed without being harshly transmitted into the busy cabin. Steering response is tight, accurate and immediate while braking is smooth, linear and powerful; there’s simply nothing to fault here.
Overall, few cars pull together the TL’s comprehensive set of attributes with such polish and perfection. Those in the market for an upscale sports sedan featuring all-wheel drive, distinctive styling and the Zen of manual shifting owe themselves a spin in the 2010 TL SH-AWD equipped with the new 6-speed manual gearbox.
It’s quite possible that Acura reps will need a hooligan bar to pry my fingers off the stick shift in this week’s tester.
