According to the US site, the Allure will boast responsive suspension tuning and be motivated by a family of direct-injected engines for reduced fuel consumption. A three-litre direct-injected V6 is the base engine offering, and it sends 255 horsepower to the road via a six-speed automatic. Higher end models benefit from a 3.6 litre direct-injected unit with about 280 horsepower. Looks like it's the end of the road for the long-lived 3800 series V6.
Both new engines utilize dual overhead camshafts and continually variable valve timing to the benefit of power and efficiency. Driver-controlled manual-mode shifting is available, too. GM says the upcoming model makes more power on less fuel while cutting cold-start emissions by about 25 percent.
Intelligent all wheel drive will be available, as will high-end features like an active-dampening suspension and perforated seats that are both heated and chilled. Bluetooth, side blind-spot monitoring and a motorized rear-window sunshade can all be specified, as can an adaptive front lighting system and even a heads-up display.
In all, it looks like the next-generation Allure is going to be a big leap forward in terms of performance and technology- though pricing and final details for the Canadian market have yet to be announced. Production begins this summer in Kansas.
