For performance junkies, Cadillac is also offering a 2.8-litre turbo V6. Thirstier than the naturally-aspirated engine, it unleashes 35 extra ponies for a total of 300 hp.
Life after the SRX
It’s barely been launched, but this newcomer’s future has already been mapped out. A hybrid version will follow at a yet-to-be-determined date. But mum was the word for GM representatives on this topic during the presentation.
At the Detroit Auto Show in January 2008, GM had announced that the SRX would have a clone earmarked for Saab. Named 9-4X, its future now seems uncertain since the Koenigsegg Group started the process of bringing the Swedish brand back to the motherland. Steve Shannon admitted that there’s still a possibility that the 9-4X will see the light of day and start production in the next few months. It would be better this way, as the turbocharged V6 was developed with the thought that it would serve more than one vehicle in mind.
The icing on the cake
But the SRX particularly stands out in terms of attractive sales prices. They’re not only lower than those of the 2009 models, but of their competitors as well!
The basic model starts at just $41,575. That’s $5,335 less than the 2009 basic version. Even better, this difference also appears when comparing the price of the Caddy with that of a Lexus RX 350, BMW X3 and Nissan Murano.
Even the priciest model of the line-up (AWD turbo V6 with 1SD package) is cheaper than the basic two-wheel-drive 2009 SRX V8: $57,775 compared to $60,725!
Now there’s an argument that should convince even the most stubborn trendsetter!
