Attractive cabin
Part of the Journey’s success lies in its classic yet well-executed exterior, sort of a mild cross between a traditional wagon and an SUV. That said, the ultra-versatile interior proves to have stronger appeal to potential buyers.
All Journeys feature front bucket seats and available Flexible Seating Group, which includes a third-row bench seat — for 7-passenger total seating capacity. Actually, it’s more of a "5+2" configuration, meaning four or five adults along with two kids.
Remember, this crossover targets small families looking for versatile transportation. With that in mind, designers thought of a particularly clever item: optional integrated booster seats for children (outboard second-row seating positions).
Meanwhile, the large hatch in the back provides generous access to the cargo area, with no awkward step to boot! Once you fold all the rear seats (child’s play), you wind up with a giant-size trunk accommodating any stroller or kid’s bike.
My only wish is that rearward visibility would be as generous as cargo room, which would make parking manœuvres much easier.
Know the Dodge vocabulary
The aforementioned Flexible Seating Group adds a second-row 60/40-split stadium "Tilt 'n Slide" seat providing easy entry to the third row with one-hand, one-motion operation. The seat cushions fold upward and the seat slides forward by using a single lever on the side of the seatback.
"Tilt 'n Slide" is yet another colourful name in the brand’s vocabulary, along with the "Flip 'n Stow" in-seat storage system allowing you to keep valuables hidden from view (very handy) as well as the famous "Chill Zone" beverage cooler located in the upper glovebox to help keep two pop cans cool through the air conditioning system or fresh air inlet.
