The closest hybrid rival is the Prius, which starts at $27,800. It’s more refined, more powerful and more fuel-efficient, but not really more exciting to drive.
Rumours spread about a possible demise of the Insight due to slow sales, but Honda Canada quickly denied them, and stated that there will be a 2011 edition of the Insight. So what’s wrong with the car? Nothing major, but in a Honda showroom, it’s stuck between a Civic and a Fit which are almost as efficient on the highway and cost less.
Bottom line: it simply takes more than that 5-minute test drive to appreciate the Insight. We say drop the price of the Insight by $2,000, and give it the same low interest rates that the Civic has. A gas price increase could also help, but we don’t want that, do we?
