Forgetfulness is bliss
Only the botched-looking steering and its inadequate grip aren’t up to par. But that’s a very minor fault at best.

Give me some oomph!
Once behind the wheel, however, that feeling of coziness vanishes. Not that you aren’t cozy, far from it, but let’s just say that once you’re snugly installed in your seat, you quickly forget about your personal comfort faced with the intoxicating driving possibilities of the G37x. Its 3.7-litre engine (hence the poetic title) belches out 328 hp lighting-fast. And even though the sedan suffers from a weight handicap, it still benefits from the great velocity of this well-proven engine.

An all-wheel-drive system, efficient but not exactly ultra-quick, dispatches all that power to the wheels. But it’s the swift, precise 7-speed automatic transmission equipped with a rev-matching manual mode that really allows you to play at being a race car driver. Oh, and did I mention that, in every possible situation, the exhaust note is simply sublime?

And that’s the only exterior sound that you’ll be appreciating as, like many luxury models, the Infiniti G37x got a premium soundproofing treatment.

And what can I say about the car’s handling? Its precise steering ensures nimble footwork. Of course, the car’s weight does work against it. But though the G37x is heavier than its rivals, it compensates admirably for it.

You could find fault with a few little things, like the somewhat tight trunk opening and the suspension system that’s just a wee bit too stiff for maximum comfort, but all in all the G37x is a great success.

There is one thing, though, that is difficult to ignore. The Infiniti G37x doesn’t come close to its German rivals in terms of refinement or driving enjoyment. They’ve got a little something extra, especially when it comes to driving dynamics. Infiniti preferred a more tranquil approach.
