The Mitsubishi i-MiEV is one of the most anticipated electric cars in the car industry. The Japanese manufacturer teased everyone with sketches and bits and pieces of information that was revealed over the past months, but the wait is now over as the American version of the i-MiEV was officially unveiled in Los Angeles.
Like any other production version, the i-MiEV lost some of the most aggressive-looking elements on the exterior shown in the sketches of the car, but the overall design still a whole lot like the European version. The only differences concern the car's dimensions; it's now longer, wider and more spacious compared to its counterpart. That change of size also required Mitsubishi to replace the electric car's front and rear bumpers, giving the i-MiEV a more distinguished look that will surely please potential North-American customers.
The interior was also upgraded in the American version, with the seats and dashboard of the i-MiEV showing more texture and attractive colours, thanks to its two-tone scheme. The seats also seem more comfortable and ready to sit bigger people, which is a must in the United States and Canada nowadays. The final touches made in the car's interior are on the center console that has been redesigned and fitting in very well with other interior elements.
The car will come standard with airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system, active stability control and will be in direct competition with the Nissan Leaf.
