The LiFe, an electric car made by Wheego, a relatively unknown Georgia-based company, was revealed today at the 2010 Los Angeles Car Show.

The LiFe is the company's first vehicle capable of reaching highway speeds. The subcompact two-seater uses a 115-volt lithium battery pack that gives the little ecological car 60 horsepower and 95 lb-ft of torque and allows it to reach a maximum speed of 104 km/h. When fully charged, the LiFe offers a 161-kilometre range and takes about 5 hours to go from a half-full battery to a full charge using a level-2 charger, meaning that a standard 120V outlet will take longer to juice up the car.

Available in red, white, blue, black, silver, and green and starting at $32,995 US, the LiFe includes airbags, antilock brakes and a tire-pressure monitoring system. Expect to pay an extra $1,995 for the optional air conditioning.

Wheego's president Jeff Boyd stated that his company will sell the car within their 30-dealership network located in the United States starting in mid-December, and that a highway-speed crossover and truck will hit the market in late 2011.
