In the hilly backcountry, where reaccelerating is commonplace given the rapid succession of twists and switchbacks, the V6 never showed the slightest sign of exhaustion. The only fault I could possibly find is that the 7-speed automatic transmission was a bit slow to react to aggressive throttle inputs. That's because it tends to favor efficiency rather than sportiness.

The steering is razor-sharp albeit with a slight heavy feel when you don't use the Sport mode to push the car in corners. Elsewhere, an unexpected obstacle at the end of a blind curve allowed me to appreciate the impeccable braking power and effectiveness of this coupe. The rigid chassis and shorter wheelbase than the sedan give it remarkable balance on the road.

All in all, the 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe is a credit to this world-class family of cars. It beautifully takes up where the sedan left off, adding superior driving dynamics on top of that.
