Green Power Heightens the S-Class Prestige Factor
One concern I found a little disconcerting until I adjusted to its existence is the tendency for the S400 to roll backwards when coming to a stop on an incline. A firm foot on the pedal is needed until the car begins to hold itself stationary.

A few quirks but many delights
Despite several quirks typical of hybrid automobiles, the S400 is an absolute delight in many ways, one of which is the aura of relaxation that soothes when behind its wheel. There’s something about the sublime comfort and tranquility within the S400 that induces a state of contentedness while the rest of the world rushes past in perpetual agitation.

There are two—no three aspects of the S400 that I could spend an entire article raving about and still fail to do them justice. Number one is the divine ride quality delivered by the S400’s sophisticated air suspension system. This is one of the smoothest riding cars I have ever experienced.

Number two on the list of “to die for” were the seats. The front perches in my tester were both heated and ventilated. They were also capable of caressing and massaging the torsos of those fortunate enough to secure a reservation. And regardless of limb length, the S400 accommodates thanks to its long wheelbase.

Last on the hit parade is the harmon/kardon LOGIC7 audio system that transforms the near silent cabin into a sound stage to rival the best home “audiophile” setup. Merging the three elements together produces wonderfully blissful motoring while the hybrid technology adds a pinch of “green” envy to heighten the prestige factor and relieve the guilt of over-consumption.
