Outlander XLS a unique, youthful and sporty crossover
As a crossover, the Mitsubishi Outlander and its numerous competitors owe their snowballing success to a blend of year-round capability, flexibility and family friendliness. As a whole, this species of do-it-all-in-any-weather machinery isn’t likely to disappear any time soon.

Virtually every automaker now sells a model like the Outlander. Lately, that’s made it important for manufacturers to ensure they offer a product that stands apart from its competition.

Mitsubishi’s designers and engineers worked to ensure their bread-and-butter ute got special attention to styling, uniqueness and performance in order to differentiate it from more common models like the Toyota Rav4, Honda CR-V and Ford Escape. In all, Outlander’s just that little bit more funky, youthful and exciting than the segment’s norm.

Outlander XLS-- a generously-equipped package
The Outlander XLS has plenty of the requisite visual bling and equipment to attract young, adventurous shoppers. The tester got alloy wheels, LED taillamps, chrome accents, fog lights, xenon projectors, and even a grille treatment borrowed from the Lancer Evolution performance car. With distinctive lines and plenty of character, the Outlander XLS’s look is very much its own-- exciting and athletic, rather than generic and boring.

Inside, the tester featured contrasting colours and textures, faux leather dash and door panels, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls and paddle shifters. There’s plenty of storage for smaller items, and 3 cupholders are within the driver’s reach at all times.

Goodies included heated leather seats, a power driver’s seat, a sunroof, a Bluetooth phone interface, a rear-seat DVD console, and even a Rockford Fosgate premium stereo system with a trunk-mounted subwoofer. The latter is bound to become a favourite feature with your kids and their friends. There’s a touch-screen navigation and audio interface with built-in hard drive as well.
