Supercars are a staple at any show. Actually, most makes were present in one form or another. Only Ferrari was absent from the NY Auto Show floor. Here then, is a list of some of the cars that caught my attention. As always, they are listed in no particular order however the SLS AMG GT3 would probably have ended up on top any which way...

As if the SLS AMG wasn't enough to get every warm-blooded car enthusiast a little excited, Mercedes goes and takes the wraps off the Baywatch/Pamela Anderson edition at the New York show and throw in three letters that have the same impact to these people as do XXX, GT3! Using the same monster V8 and it having less mass to lug around, the SLS AMG GT3 will accomplish pornographic-like performance figures that will surely have fans requiring cold showers.

Porsche Cayenne Turbo

The “super” may go for the Turbo and the sure to become available in the near future Turbo S but the new Cayenne is by far the best-looking ever. I had a brief discussion about the Touareg and Cayenne with a buddy @auto123.com and we both agreed that the 2004 VW fared better aesthetically than the Cayenne. No more! Not only does the new Pepper borrow cues from the Panamera and latest Cayman and 911 but its new Hybrid and Diesel powertrains (as well as Turbo...) will make more popular than ever.

Subaru Impreza WRX and STI

The “new” WRX is in fact not really new as it only grows ever closer to the STI in styling and performance. First came the bump in hp to 265 and now, body proportions basically on par with the STI. Although the return of the sedan has made headlines (still way uglier than the 5-door), it’s the fact that the WRX needs to continue to grow to maintain its competitive edge. I can't help but think that the so-called “Subayota” will be the next STI and the WRX will gain sole control over these three letters.
