Nissan’s GT-R four-wheel powerslides into 2010 with more grunt than ever. Now standard with 485 horsepower, an advanced all wheel drive system and the market’s most sophisticated driver aid technologies, the GT-R carries forward as an attainable supercar that can be used by anyone, 365 days a year.
For 2010, slight exterior tweaks include a new near-black metallic finish wheel and a new exterior colour called Hakone White. The GT-R is set off by quad taillamps, quad exhaust pipes, a spoiler and an aggressively-raked, vented hood. Its sharp, chiseled body is lusted after by performance enthusiasts the world over.
The 2010 GT-R is powered by a 3.8 litre twin-turbo V6 engine. This year’s slightly-increased output is sent to the road by a sophisticated all wheel drive system, and a six-speed, dual-clutch, paddle-shift transmission is standard. The race-inspired gearbox enables lightning-fast and fully rev-matched gear changes both up and down.
Inside, the GT-R boasts heavily-bolstered race-inspired seats, a navigation system, a performance multifunction display and push-button engine start. Navigation, a premium stereo system and a Bluetooth phone interface are all on board, too. The GT-R also boasts a four-passenger capacity and a usable trunk.
Just cause it’s got more power than Civic, Corolla and Elantra combined doesn’t mean the GT-R isn’t safe and sensible, too. Crushing brakes, an advanced stability control system and super wide-beam headlights add to driver confidence, and an advanced airbag system with side curtains is standard. Additionally, LED exterior lighting ensures the GT-R is highly visible to other motorists in bad weather and after dark.
The 2010 Nissan GT-R is priced from $98,900.
