The 2010 Panamera 4S also stands out with regard to versatility. Europeans are clearly not ashamed to drive around in a premium sedan with a back-pack (meaning with a rear hatch). After all, even the rich and famous go shopping at IKEA from time to time!
Whereas the elegant Mercedes-Benz CLS550 can hold up to 495 litres of luggage or antiques once you get past the tight opening, its domestic rival will swallow 445 litres… with the rear seats up. Fold them down and you wind up with an impressive 1,263 litres of cargo room, all accessible through a power-actuated liftgate that opens quickly. A cargo cover is optionally available ($1,070) for those who want to customize their ride.
And why wouldn’t you? If you can handle the base MSRP of $120,300, then you should have no problem adding a dozen options that will increase your bill to $147,885, as was the case of my tester. It came with a Carbon Grey paint ($1,040), Comfort front seats with Black leather and interior trim ($4,980), 20-inch RS Spyder wheels ($4,250), an adaptive air suspension ($2,720) and a carbon fibre interior package ($2,720), just to name a few.
