The melting pot
A base Venza starts out at $29,310 and comes with a load of standard features, while a V6 version costs $30,800. Both are available with all-wheel drive for another $1,450 and our V6 AWD with the Navigation & JBL Package retails for $41,010.

As for rivals, Honda’s Accord Crosstour comes only with a V6 and ranges from $34,900 to $38,900. The Mazda CX-7, available with naturally-aspirated and turbocharged 4-cylinders, retails from $27,995 to $41,590. In addition, you could also consider the GMC Terrain, which offers 4-cylinder and V6 engines and is priced from $27,465 to $44,560.

The Toyota Venza is a good melting pot. It’s a vehicle that rounds up the best of several types of vehicles, namely the carlike ride of a sedan and the cargo carrying ability of a sport-utility vehicle. It’s arguably the best among that cross-breed of machines we now call crossovers, the type of vehicle that everyone will own in a couple of decades.

It obviously doesn’t fly yet or have a giant glass canopy like the Jetsons’ car, and it doesn’t drive itself yet, but I’m sure it’s in the plans for the 2025 model year.
