Driving duties
There's no hiding this thing's exterior dimensions, that's for sure. At nearly 6.3 meters in length (almost 2.5 smart fortwos), the Super Duty cannot be driven like a regular vehicle, especially in urban settings. So you've got to take it wide. Once you get the feel for it though, even its near 16-meter turning circle becomes manageable if you prepare for it.
Steering is light and not so precise, brakes are powerful, however progressive pedal feel does not apply and when unladen, the SD will bounce around of rough patches. And I love it! What's more is that not only is the Power Stroke stonkingly powerful but it's actually decent on fuel. My test average came back at 17L per 100 km, besting the gas-powered HEMI in the Ram by 3 L/100 km. My colleague Luc Gagné averaged 19.5L per 100 km with the Cummins diesel-powered Ram 2500 Laramie 4x4. Granted, his test was conducted in the winter, but Luc typically does more highway driving than I do.
I love this big brute
I'm going to confess something; I miss the Super Duty. Insane, no? I'm usually all into fast and nimble compact cars (although I do have a serious soft spot for wagons) but this 2011 F-350 Super Duty got to me. You feel like you own the road and you fear nothing. NOTHING!
I'm still settling into my house and every time the wife and I talk about buying furniture or scouting antique stores, I can't help but think back fondly at the truck and everything it could do.
