Overall the interior is good. I think that the Cruze and Elantra both have an interior that is more updated and most people will prefer.
Civics also has a reputation for safety and reliability. All trim levels offer 4-wheel anti-lock brakes, active front head restraints, side curtain airbags and dual stage front airbags as standard equipment.
My 5-speed SE is rated at 7.4 litres/ 100km in the city and 5.4 on the highway. The automatic comes in at 8.2 in the city and 5.7 on the highway.
Standard equipment includes air conditioning, power windows, tilt and telescoping steering column and an AM/FM/ CD 4-speaker audio system with MP3/ WMA compatibility.
Heated seats are only offered on the EX-L trim and Bluetooth is not offered at all. Jetta has heated seats as an option and Mazda3 has available Bluetooth. With Elantra you get heated seats in the front and the back on the GLS. With Focus, you get the SYNC system.
The base model Civic starts at just under $19,000 and this SE starts at close to $19,500. The base Civic sedan has a starting price of just under $15,000. Keep in mind that the 4-door Focus, Mazda3 and Jetta all start at about $16,000.
The Civic does everything well. It is predictable and people feel confident driving one. Nothing over done, everything just right. With no major changes for 2012 though, I wonder if Civic will be able to keep the top spot?
