Seeking to satisfy the needs of two generations, the baby boomers and the Generation Y, Honda has created a new Odyssey with the help of a team of engineers that are owners of their second and even third Odyssey.

More modern styling, more intuitive features and keeping the previous model’s versatility were one of the goals in the redesign.

Lower and wider, the new Odyssey is now more aerodynamic and roomier. The top-shelf Touring Elite version includes, among other features, xenon headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels and side mirrors with integrated turn signals.

The new Odyssey will be powered by a 3.5-litre V6 with cylinder deactivation; the engine can run on 6, 4 or 3 cylinders depending on speed and load. Honda claims the V6 to be more fuel-efficient than the 4-cylinder Toyota Sienna.

In short, more interior space for the second and third row (the van is wider, after all), and a lot of improvements here and there.

Many questions during the webcast Q&A session were answered with “more details to come”. So, we’ll have to wait for final specs, dimensions, trim levels, pricing, etc.
