Guaranteed exclusiveness!
The private jet-style interior further emphasizes the plush and ever-so-classy nature of the new QX. Numerous Burl Walnut wood appliqués and rich Wheat or Graphite-coloured leather upholstery with accent stitching, among other highly-refined items, work to create a palace-like atmosphere.

The front bucket seats are now wider and their seatbacks, taller. Occupants enjoy a commanding view of the road ahead, not to mention excellent support, which is always nice to have on small winding roads.

Buyers can choose between seven or eight-passenger configurations (at no extra cost). Adults can sit in the first two rows, while the third one is best left to kids. Fortunately, access to these remote confines is made easier by the power-folding second-row seats.

By the way, the first- and second-row seats are all heated, as is the steering wheel. Standard amenities also include GPS navigation, Infiniti’s Around View Monitor, a surreal Bose audio system as well as DVD-based entertainment with dual seven-inch monitors lodged in the front head restraints.

Safety at the forefront
The all-new QX from Infiniti doubles up as a safety shield, insist the folks at Nissan Canada. Particularly worth mentioning are available technologies like Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning (similar to Volvo’s) and Intelligent Cruise Control.

In Canada, the QX lineup will be limited to a single trim level with all-mode 4WD, which fine-tunes torque distribution between the front and rear wheels yet offers selectable Auto, 4HI and 4LO modes. Also on board is Hill Start Assist, which prevents rollback on an incline.

Built in Kyushu, Japan, the 2011 Infiniti QX56 will be sold across North America as well as Eastern Europe (Ukraine, Russia, etc.) and the Persian Gulf area. This vehicle, which now shares its platform with the Nissan Patrol, likely foreshadows the next-generation Armada, although Nissan executives wouldn’t confirm it.

Expected in Canadian showrooms by July, the new QX may not generate great buzz. However, any prospective customer will be guaranteed exclusiveness.
