How good?
Really really good. In its category and price range at this moment, no other compact CUV/SUV can match the Sportage's style, character, kit and appeal. The Hyundai Tucson, recipient of the AJAC's 2011 Best New SUV/CUV under $35k award, is the near-identical twin to the Sportage. However, I'm not crazy about its exterior styling. That is, of course, a personal opinion.
When confronted to the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4 and Ford Escape, the Sportage scores high on technology, design and attractiveness. Its base price of $23,895 is on par or below that of its competitors and at $35,095, the EX Luxury is a few grand cheaper than the top models from the other brands.
If I sum all this up, you can't really lose with the Sportage!
