But let's give credit where credit is due. The front perches are wonderfully bolstered and supportive. Plus, they help keep your butt warm or cool depending on the season.
IS looks and drives beautiful, too
The 2011 Lexus IS 350 AWD is not only beautiful to look at but also to hit the road with. The 3.5-litre V6 engine unleashes smooth, effortless power – and wanting more would be pure greed. The 306 ponies are more than enough to enjoy the drive and feel in control at all times.
Harnessing that power is a competent 6-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters allowing manual shift capability.
I also give points to my tester for its all-wheel drive system, which I had the opportunity to appreciate the effectiveness in the snow. While I personally would have liked a bit less understeer to avoid losing agility in sharp corners, this particular setup makes the IS safer in any road conditions.
Finally, I can't say enough good things about the steering, which proves sharp and pleasant to work with. It may not be as responsive as the German steerings, but it allows absolute control of the car and makes the latter incredibly easy to drive. What a delight.
Wrap-up
The 2011 Lexus IS 350 AWD admittedly is a surprising sedan, not only in terms of styling but also driving dynamics, which far exceed the typical Japanese car. Simply put, I never thought I could have as much fun behind its wheel.
Not so boring after all...
