The essential Duo
During an interview given at the Detroit Auto Show in January 2009, the president of Myers Motors, Dana Myers, announced the imminent launch of the two-seat model.
It represented the next logical step after the NmG. “While people love our zippy single-passenger model, we know that sometimes you want to take a friend along for the ride – and soon you’ll be able to.”
Myers hopes to start production on the Duo during the last quarter of 2010.
Name that car!
The method employed to name the latest model proved as original as the one used for its market launch. The management at Myers Motors simply invited the public to submit their suggestions. On November 1, the winning entry made by IT specialist Stan Thornton was announced: Duo.
“We received 1,101 entries,” said a company spokesperson. “Stan was the first person to submit the name ‘Duo,’ and he used it as an acronym for ‘Doesn’t Use Oil.’ Stan told us he can’t wait to buy his own Duo!”
