A new recall by Toyota Canada affects 1,307 Scion IQ hatchbacks from the 2012-2013 model years.

In some cases, the wiring for the Occupant Classification System (OCS) may be damaged when sliding the front passenger seat fore and aft. If this occurs, the airbag light could illuminate and certain front passenger airbags could be deactivated.

Wiring damage could also cause the OCS to incorrectly judge the occupant type, causing various passenger airbags and seat belt tensioners to be improperly activated during a crash.

Affected owners are advised to take their IQ to a local Scion dealer to have it checked out.
