Six D-ring tie-downs make it simple for the various models to accommodate the various skid loads. All of the hardware and mounting points on the NV come pre-drilled, preventing rust. The floor is either painted steel, or a washable material for easy cleanup.
Through the “Upfit Program” the ingenious shelf and cabinet system is available at no charge – as is the utility package offering cabin/cargo partition and outside racking.
Here we switch vehicles, climbing into an 8 ft. tall, high roof model equipped with V6. Although I dubbed it “Muffin-Top”, I was impressed by the towering height inside. Plumbers will be happy, as the 6.3 ft. ceilings will accommodate upright water heaters. The flat floor is wide enough for full sheets of plywood or drywall, and the flat-topped wheel-wells can balance a load as well. There’s an available ceiling light package, and the rear doors swing open a full 243 degrees on all models.
Although it lacked the acceleration of the V8-powered model, our V6 model wasn’t exactly sluggish despite being fully loaded and extremely tall.
There wasn’t any noticeable extra body roll, and we remarked that it would be easy to forget that it wouldn’t fit in underground parking.
We arrive at the warehouse and our pallets are unloaded. Gratefully accepting cold bottles of water and Habitat for Humanity t-shirts, we reflect on a day well spent.
Built in Canton, Mississippi, the NV will be available in select dealerships across Canada. The base model starts at $30,998 while a fully loaded, high-roofed model tops out at $48,000.
