If there is a shortcoming to the automatic, it’s the fact that is needs to downshift on some hills to keep up speed, and it’s a bit slow on the downshifts. At 106 horsepower, you need to keep all of them going so you will tend to use more throttle than in some higher powered cars.

With the changes made for 2012, Yaris can move into being a comfortable primary vehicle for families without having to break the bank.
