Feeding the frenzy
The winning combination of the French Bulldog front snout, sharper lines and badass new wheels are show-stopping. Not doing a double-take when one rolls by is near impossible, especially in Monaco White. Should you see, stare at it from a 3/4 rear view.

The interior gets suitably interesting upgrades including a revised centre stack, new materials, and a multi analogue gauge cluster. Although very cool, their location is too far removed from the driver's line of sight. Perhaps if they were angled, their usefulness would match their cool-factor.

The real frenzy
The Genesis Coupe retains the 2.0T and 3.8 nomenclatures but for Gen 2, they mean far more. The 2.0T gains a massive 64 hp and 52 lb-ft for respective totals of 274 and 275. Power increases are delivered via a new twin-scroll turbocharger and a 53% larger intercooler. You gotta love this: the Coupe's 2.0T makes do without direct injection (GDI) unlike the Sonata's 2.0T. Why you might ask? According to some, it's because port fuel injection is more “tuner-friendly.” Giggidy.

I predict that the 2.0T will eventually gain GDI and when it does, hp numbers will soar to current V6 output. When that happens, the V6 will go bye-bye. In the meantime, the 3.8L V6 does gain direct injection and so sees its power levels climb to 348 hp and 295 lb-ft, up from 306 and 266.

Both engines can be joined by a 6-speed manual that has been re-tweaked for easier use. Very new for the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe is the arrival of an 8-speed automatic transmission which, with the V6, transform the Gen Coupe into a true GT car.

What is a 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe?
For Gen 2, Hyundai has broadened the car's appeal. As they strive to move the car towards real performance and sophistication, think Infiniti G Coupe and Nissan 370Z. The new car is designed to please the hardcore enthusiasts as well as those seeking a pleasant long-distance cruiser that can bruise an ego or two if need be.

First, the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe that I would get: the $28,799 2.0T R-Spec. All Gen 2 Coupes get a re-tuned suspension which improves handling and delivers a more “Euro” ride. The R-Spec and GT cars get stiffer springs and thicker sway bars. These same trims also count on a Torsen limited-slip differential, larger 4-wheel Brembo vented disc brakes with 4-piston callipers and specific 19” wheels and performance tires.

With little lag and a real juicy spot between 2,500 and 4,500 rpm, the 2.0T blows real hard... All go, lotsa show, and no bull. That's the way I like it.
