2014 Porsche Panamera Turbo Executive - 82.8 %
The biggest of the bunch, the Porsche Panamera Executive doesn't just boast the biggest rear end, but also the largest back seat with extended legroom in Executive trim. Admittedly, parked next to the other three competitors in our grand coupe lineup, the Panamera did look quite obese and large. However, that did not detract form its smart, sophisticated lines and classic Porsche look.
Of course, it's what's beneath that curvaceous bonnet that really gets the attention, with a turbocharged V8 engine that pushes out a good 520 horses, the Panamera is no slouch, despite its extra size/weight.
Where the Porsche really shines is in its transmission. The PDK is, perhaps, the best double-clutch system we've ever driven and has been since the first time we experienced it. Add to that dynamic drivability and handling capabilities, and despite the length of the Executive behemoth, it drives like any Porsche should and does. This is a vehicle that can handle driving the president from the airport as well as it would any track you put it on. That's the beauty of a Porsche.
The odd one out in terms of pricing, the 2014 Porsche Panamera Turbo Executive sits pretty (and very grand) at just over $210k. Despite the price tag, the Porsche measures up perfectly in terms of performance and drivability alongside the remaining three grand coupes.
Where this particular grand coupe really stands heads and shoulders above the competition is in its interior design and layout. By far the most comfortable and best looking of the bunch, there's no bad seat in the 2014 Porsche Panamera Turbo Executive. By far the best-loved interior of the bunch by all testers on this particular comparison drive, prying drivers out of the chocolate-brown leather cockpit became ever more difficult as the drive day progressed.
