2014 BMW M6 Gran Coupé - 84.4 %
The most handsome of the lot, the BMW M6 Gran Coupé is stunning to behold -- especially in matte white paint. As with any BMW M car, the M6 Gran Coupé is fantastically sharp in every aspect of its drive. Steering is the complete opposite of vague: really fast, and rewarding. The "M" steering wheel is perhaps one of the sharpest looking that we've seen in a while. On top of it's dynamic style, it provides the driver with great grip.

Steering wheels and matte paint aside, let's not forget the M6 Gran Coupé's grunt: a TwinPower turbocharged V8 good for 560 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque. Thanks to the ceramic brakes outfitted on our particular tester (well worth the $6,750 entry fee), stopping power is on par with going power, and the brake pedal feel is positive and delicate, just the way we like it.

The stubby little M shifter is connected to the gloriously spot-on and fast-shifting 7-speed M double-clutch transmission with Drive logic. Honestly, what did we ever do before dual-clutch came out to play? Thankfully, the 2014 M6 Gran Coupé's steering wheel mounted paddle shifters beg to be engaged, so you'll have plenty of time to bond with the 7-speed autobox and really get to know it, because we all most certainly did.

For some, visibility was an issue in the 2014 BMW M6 Gran Coupé, as a comfortable seating position could not be found. Space in the rear seats should have been ample, but again felt cramped thanks to the sloping roofline. However, the door openings were plenty wide enough for easy ingress and egress.

Steering in the 2014 BMW M6 Gran Coupé is akin to a 1 Series, read: You'd never know you were piloting a vehicle that weighs over 2,000kg and is over 16 ft long. Precise and connected in all the right ways, we thoroughly enjoyed driving this M car, and truthfully wrangled over the keys at the end of the day as to who would bring it home...

With pricing in the middle of the pack, the 2014 BMW M6 Gran Coupé starts well-equipped and plenty fast at a reasonable $127,900. As tested, our M6 hit closer to $160k, but those ceramic brakes are so worth it.

One of the fastest of the quartet in our comparison drive, the only "downfall" the M6 really had was that it featured rear-wheel drive while the others had all four wheels working against our winter wonderland landscape. Had the M6 offered up xDrive, the No. 1 grand coupe would have had a serious run for its money, and perhaps not have come out on top.
