Hyundai officially introduced its all-new 2016 Tucson at the Geneva Motor Show after posting several pictures on the Internet over the past few weeks. The next generation of the popular compact CUV will make its North American debut at the New York Auto Show at the very beginning of April.
The model shown in Geneva is pretty similar to the one we'll be getting here, featuring the Korean automaker's new hexagonal grille as well as LED headlights and taillights. The cargo area can swallow up to 513 litres of gear with the rear seats up.
In Europe, the 2016 Hyundai Tucson will offer the following engines:
- 1.6L gasoline engine rated at 135 hp;
- 1.6L gasoline turbo engine rated at 176 hp;
- 1.7L CRDi turbodiesel engine rated at 115 hp;
- 2.0L diesel engine rated at 136 or 184 hp.
There was even a Hyundai Tucson Hybrid combining a diesel engine with an electric motor for a total output of 150 hp. It also uses a 48V lithium-ion battery, a DC/DC converter, and an inverter. Meanwhile, the plug-in hybrid variant pairs a 115hp engine with a 68hp electric motor and a 10.7kWh lithium-ion polymer battery.
The powertrains available with the 2016 Hyundai Tucson in North America will be announced at a later date.
