2015 Lexus CT 200h Preview

A sporty hybrid By ,

Pros: The youthful and sporty-looking 2015 Lexus CT 200h is an efficient compact luxury car with plenty of style and practicality (it comes with a hatch!). Balanced handling and typical Lexus fare makes for a pleasant and sophisticated driving experience. Did I mention it's a hybrid?

Cons: The CT 200h feels slightly underpowered and noisy, especially at lower revs. The rear seat is a bit tight, and some people will lament the absence of certain luxury items inside the car.

2015 Lexus CT 200h Price and Fuel Economy: While the lineup includes a single model starting at $31,300, Touring, Premium, Navigation, and F SPORT packages are available.

Based on Natural Resources Canada's new 5-cycle testing procedure to determine fuel consumption ratings, expect to burn 5.5L/100km in the city and 5.9L/100km on the highway with your 2015 Lexus CT 200h.

Improvements and Changes: If you remember, styling was updated last year, adding the signature spindle grille used by all new Lexus models. Now in its fifth model year, the 2015 CT 200h receives just a handful of changes including an updated Lexus Enform infotainment system and the addition of Siri Eyes-Free.

2015 Lexus CT 200h Powertrain: The CT 200h pairs a 98-horsepower, 1.8L 4-cylinder engine with Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive system to generate 134 net horsepower. This is essentially a Prius powertrain in a smaller but far more refined vehicle. Regenerative braking and an exhaust heat recovery system help improve efficiency. Drivers can customize performance with four distinct modes including Normal, EV, ECO, and Sport. A CVT is the only transmission available, here.

Cargo Capacity: Despite the convenient hatchback design of the Lexus CT 200h, cargo room isn't very impressive due to the low roofline and high load floor. You get 405 litres to haul your luggage and other stuff.

Safety: Standard features include stability and traction control, disc brakes with ABS, brake assist and electronic brake force distribution, as well as smart stop technology, which automatically cuts engine power and allows the brakes to take precedence over the accelerator when both pedals are pressed at the same time. Let's not forget the eight airbags.
