Pros: Family-friendliness, seating for six, sliding side doors and it’s not a minivan -- #winning. Plus, it’s pretty fun to drive since it’s a Mazda.
Cons: It’s still kind of a minivan. Styling of the Mazda5 leaves a little to be desired (in some eyes), and while it had a bit of a facelift a few years ago, it’s remained virtually unchanged for quite a while. Plus, North America hasn’t gotten the SKYACTIV engine in the Mazda5 yet.

Powertrain: The Mazda5 comes equipped in only one way, with a 2.5L DOHC 4-cylinder engine that pushes out 157 horsepower and 163 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels, and as mentioned above there are two transmissions choices: a 6-speed manual and a 5-speed automatic.
There’s seating for six with captain chairs up front and in the second row, and a bench seat in the rear.
Changes and Improvements: The 2015 Mazda5 remains unchanged from the 2014 model.
Cargo Capacity: While the Mazda5 boasts room for six, that diminishes the cargo capacity in the trunk, limiting it to just 112L when the third row is up. Fold that third row down and you’re looking at 426L of cargo space. And with the rear totally free of seats, the Mazda5 can swallow up 857L of stuff.
