Chevrolet today introduced the all-new 2016 Spark at the New York Auto Show, marking a completely redesigned and more sophisticated execution of the brand’s global minicar. It will be offered in more than 40 markets around the world beginning in the fourth quarter of 2015.
Built on an all-new, more rigid architecture, the 2016 Chevrolet Spark boasts a new 1.4L inline 4-cylinder Ecotec engine delivering 98 horsepower and mated to a manual transmission or CVT. With the latter, expect to achieve 5.9L/100km on the highway, GM claims.
New safety features available on the Spark include Side Blind Spot Alert, Lane Departure Warning, and Forward Collision Alert. With regard to infotainment, the next-generation Chevrolet MyLink interface offers a 7” colour touchscreen and new controls.
“At its core, the new Spark is still the fun, agile urban car that made the first-generation model so popular, but it delivers that fun driving experience with greater sophistication,” said Sam Basile, executive chief engineer.
