As promised, the anticipated new 2016 Honda Civic Coupe made its global debut at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show. Customers will have to wait a few more months, though, because it is set to go on sale in March of next year.

The new Civic Sedan hit the market last Thursday.

For the first time ever, the Honda Civic Coupe is available with a turbocharged engine, namely a 1.5L unit rated at 174 horsepower. A new 2.0L i-VTEC engine producing 158 horsepower comes standard. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a CVT.

More spacious than its predecessor, the 2016 Civic Coupe rides on a 74mm longer wheelbase, is 48mm wider, and offers a lower seating position. Rear-seat occupants enjoy 127 mm of extra legroom. The cabin also features soft-touch materials, more upscale finish, acoustic windshield, dual-zone automatic climate control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, as well as a brand new Garmin navigation system.

Outside, pay attention to the distinctive LED daytime running lights and taillights, the lower roofline, and the tauter lines.

March can’t come soon enough.
