A week from today, Toyota will unveil the new, fourth-generation Prius -- not in Tokyo or Frankfurt, but rather in Las Vegas. While production and pricing details remain unknown, the company posted a few images on the Facebook page of the Prius Club Malaysia

The official launch of the new Prius will take place at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.

The last redesign dates back to 2009, and it helped the Prius become the first hybrid to cross 500,000 units in its first full year on the market.

“Despite all this rising competition and more choice for consumers, Prius is holding its own,” Ashvin Chotai, managing director of researcher Intelligence Automotive Asia, told Bloomberg Business. “Any model normally gets a first-year boost to sales, and this one probably will be more like a couple of years.”

According to Green Car Reports, the next Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid will have "30 to 35 miles" (46 to 56 kilometres) of rated battery range. Look for it to be more fuel-efficient overall than the current generation, not to mention more powerful, as Car and Driver claims net output could jump from 134 hp to about 150 hp.
