The 2017 Cadillac XT5 crossover has earned the Top Safety Pick+ designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), for models equipped with optional collision-prevention systems. Among these systems are Forward Collision Alert, front pedestrian detection, Front and Rear Automatic Braking and the OnStar system that includes Automatic Crash Response, to name just a few.
According to Paul Spadafora, chief engineer for the XT5, “Passenger safety was one of our top priorities when we engineered the XT5. We equipped the XT5 with Cadillac’s full set of driver awareness and driver assistance systems to aid collision avoidance. Just as importantly, we designed an advanced structure that is both stiffer and lighter, for excellent crashworthiness. This included a revised front structure that specifically targets the challenging offset barrier scenario.”
