How to make a colossal 4x4 look almost track-ready!

Manufacturers have in recent years devised various ways to make large SUVs more appealing to fans of styling and performance. Two striking examples are Nissan's Midnight editions and the Redline models from Chevrolet.

Fiat-Chrysler is no exception; the company has announced the addition of new decorative stripes and a performance exhaust system for the R/T and SRT versions of the 2018 Dodge Durango. The SRT will also offer carbon-fibre interior upgrades and a performance spring kit that drops the vehicle by 15 mm for a lower stance and improved handling.

“The available stripes and carbon fibre throughout the interior really give Durango a custom look from the factory, and they are perfectly complemented by Mopar’s available exhaust systems and performance springs, which make Durango even more fun to drive.”

- Steve Beahm, Head of Passenger Cars, Dodge//SRT, Chrysler and FIAT, FCA – North America

Priced at $1,495, the stripes cover the bumpers, hood, parts of the roof and the liftgate. They are available in five colours - Bright Blue, Flame Red, Gunmetal Low Gloss (metallic finish), Low Gloss Black and Sterling Silver (metallic finish). Dealers will be taking orders starting in March.

Mopar’s performance exhaust system is made of 304 stainless steel and includes polished 4-inch tips; it was developed in partnership with Dodge//SRT’s engineers and designers with the goal of producing a unique look. It is available now for the Durango R/T at a cost of $2,465, while for the SRT model it will be offered at $2,855, beginning in the second quarter of 2018.

Conceived for the Durango SRT, the Mopar performance spring kit was also produced in collaboration with the team at Dodge//SRT. It reduces back-end squatting during accelerations, nose-diving during braking and body roll when cornering. Buyers will be able to order it as of March, for $471.

Lastly, the SRT Interior Appearance Group, which includes premium wrapping for the instrument panel, a Dinamica soft-touch headliner and accent paint finish around the speakers, plus new carbon-fibre accents, will be available to order later in February (no price announced yet).
