Subaru brings joy to lovers of crossovers

Subaru lifted the veil on its updated 2018 Outback and presented the North American premiere of the second-generation 2018 Crosstrek subcompact crossover at the 2017 New York International Auto Show this week.

Expected at Canadian dealerships this coming summer, and sporting a reshaped, more rugged silhouette, the 2018 Subaru Outback was also spruced up with some notable upgrades in terms of comfort (particularly as regards its ride smoothness), safety and multimedia functionality. In addition, a range of technical and design advances has found its way into the car to boost the driving experience and the versatility it offers to owners.

Nothing new to report under the hood, except for increased suppleness of the CVT transmission, the result of a revamped electronic command element. On the other hand, consumers will be happy to know the interior has been upgraded through improved sound insulation as well as the addition of high-quality materials and even Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, not to mention improved Nuance voice recognition technology. On the outside, steering-responsive LED headlights are now available for improved vision.

First unveiled in Geneva last month, the new 2018 Subaru Crosstrek is now being launched in North America with the firm intention of being a player in the highly competitive subcompact category. You can click on the link to consult our full article on the new Crosstrek, but we’ll mention here that it’s built on the new Subaru Global Platform, whose promises include improved performance, safety, versatility and comfort.

In Canada, the 2018 Subaru Crosstrek will be offered in four versions: Convenience, Touring, Sport, and Limited. The first is an all-new offering which aims to maximize value thanks to a generous list of standard features, including a 6.5-inch multimedia touchscreen display, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, rear-view camera, cruise control, heated side-view mirrors, all-wheel drive with Active Torque Vectoring, 17-inch alloy wheels and integrated roof rails.
