We now know more about the North American edition of the 2019 Jeep Renegade, after details were published earlier regarding the European edition of the smallest Jeep around.
What’s new
The Renegade gets a new engine option, a 1.3L 4-cylinder turbo engine producing 177 hp and 200 lb-ft of torque. This represents an increase over the outgoing 1.4L and its 160 hp. The new engine, which brings with it stop-start technology, will be offered as an option on the Sport and Latitude editions, and come standard with the Limited and Trailhawk. For the first two trims, the default engine is the same 2.4L 4-cylinder naturally aspirated engine as before.
Both engines will work in conjunction with a 9-spee automatic transmission, while the old 6-speed manual gearbox has been dropped - RIP. The 2019 Renegade will be offered in both front-wheel and four-wheel drive.
Outside, the Renegade gets spruced up with new front and rear fascia and new wheel designs. The Latitude and Trailhawk versions can be had with 19-inch wheels. Buyers adding the LED lighting package get LED headlights, daytime running lights, fog lamps and taillights.
The Renegade will come with several advanced drive assist features, namely adaptive cruise control, parallel/perpendicular park assist and front parking sensors as optional add-ons as part of the Advanced Tech Group.
New available colour options include Slate Blue, Sting Grey and… Bikini.
