Subaru Canada’s announced pricing and updates for the six-trim 2027 Crosstrek lineup includes some good news for fans of the model looking for one in hybrid format: the lineup welcomes a new Crosstrek Hybrid Onyx trim priced at $36,695 (MSRP).
That’s $3,500 less than the next-up Hybrid Limited, and it’s only $1,600 more than the non-hybrid Crosstrek Onyx.
The Crosstrek lineup itself starts at $30,695 MSRP ($33,742 including destination and fees).
Powertrains of the 2027 Subaru Crosstrek
Gasoline versions, of which there are four, including, the Convenience, Touring, Onyx and Limited trims, are powered exclusively by a 2.5Le BOXER engine generating 180 hp and 178 lb-ft of torque. Recall that the previous 2.0L base engine was retired after 2025.
The Hybrid Onyx and Hybrid Limited feature Subaru’s series-parallel hybrid system, combining the 2.5L BOXER engine with an electric motor and a 1.1-kWh lithium-ion battery for a combined 194 hp. Combined fuel economy drops from 8.1L/100 km on gas models down to an official Natural Resources Canada rating of 6.3L/100 km. Fitted with a 63-litre fuel tank, the hybrid models can travel up to 1,000 km on a single tank of fuel, says Subaru.
The presence of a battery for the hybrid system does come at a cost: cargo volume behind the rear seats decreases slightly from 564 litres in gas-only models to 527 litres in hybrids.
Subaru Symmetrical Full-Time All-Wheel Drive and a Lineartronic CVT remain standard across all trims.

Building on the gas Onyx trim, the Hybrid Onyx features:
