Mercedes-AMG has unveiled an all-new performance EV. The 2027 GT SUV will be offered in three versions, with output reaching as high as 1153 hp. It’s the first full-size SUV developed entirely in-house by the German manufacturer's performance division.
Following the GT four-door coupe, this new model becomes the second vehicle to use the AMG.EA electric architecture. Mercedes-AMG says it is starting to take orders for the GT 53 version starting today in Germany. The GT 55 and GT 63 will follow in spring 2027.
For the moment, Mercedes had nothing to say regarding pricing, or about a timeline for launch in Canada.

Three versions, two mechanical configurations
The lineup begins with the GT 53, which features two electric motors, one per axle. Their combined output of 400 kW corresponds to roughly 536 hp, while torque reaches 590 lb-ft. A two-speed transmission is integrated into the rear axle. According to the manufacturer, this version can do the 0–100 km/h trick in 4.2 seconds.
The GT 55 and GT 63 step up to a three-axial-flux-motor setup: two at the rear and one at the front. To maximize efficiency, the front motor can be decoupled when conditions don’t require its input.
The GT 55 produces 600 kW, or roughly 805 hp, and 1372 lb-ft of torque. The GT 63 raises those figures to 860 kW, giving an output of around 1153 hp to go with 1475 lb-ft of torque.
From a standing start, Mercedes-AMG announces a fleeting 0–100 km/h time of 2.7 seconds for the GT 63, and 7.2 seconds to reach 200 km/h. Top speed is set at 270 km/h with the Driver's Package.

Up to 700 km of range
The GT SUV relies on an 800-volt electrical system. A battery with 106 kWh of usable capacity equips the GT 53, while the GT 55 and GT 63 also offer a 128-kWh battery.
That bigger battery drives up range to 700 km, according to the European WLTP cycle. To be clear, this is not what we’ll get in Canada with our more stringent EPA rating. Mercedes-Benz also cautions that the figures presented remain preliminary.
Under the conditions outlined by Mercedes-AMG, charging from 10 to 80 percent can be done in 11.12 minutes.

Active suspension and combustion engine sounds
Rear-wheel steering comes as standard equipment. The GT 63 also receives an air suspension with active hydraulic control to reduce body roll during cornering as well as body movement under braking and acceleration. This system is available as an option on the GT 55.
Mercedes-AMG adds a mode that replicates V8 engine sounds in the 55 and 63 versions, or a 6-cylinder sound in the 53 version. Simulated gear changes accompany this feature.

Measuring roughly 5.08 metres in length, the GT SUV can accommodate up to 607 litres of stuff in its trunk; or up to 1740 litres with the seats folded down. Not enough? There’s a 78-litre front compartment for extra storage space.
Assembly of the 2027 Mercedes-AMG GT SUV will take place in Sindelfingen, Germany.
