Five million more cars are being recalled in the U.S. due to faulty airbag inflators manufactured by Takata. According to AFP, his comes a month after a ninth airbag-linked death was confirmed by federal authorities — the tenth worldwide.
"It's a massive safety crisis," said NHTSA spokesman Gordon Trowbridge, who also admitted that millions of other cars could be recalled in the next few months.
For the first time, Volkswagen and Audi are affected, although the NHTSA didn’t specify the models or the amount of units.
With this latest recall, the number of airbags affected in the U.S. has reached 28 million.
