Whitby, ON – MINI fanatics from across Canada are invited to celebrate the 50th birthday of the beloved icon on August 26 at Polson Pier in Toronto. This event will feature the largest gathering of MINIs in Canadian History. With crazy MINIs, games, prizes, and a movie; the event is sure to be the highlight of the summer for MINI lovers.
Running from 6 p.m. until 11 p.m. on August 26, 2009, there will be many activities to please attendees of all ages. A DJ will provide the soundtrack for the events activities. At dusk, MINIs will take over the Polson Pier drive-in theatre to watch a screening of the 2003 version of ‘The Italian Job.’ The iconic brand on the big screen will be watched by a sea of MINIs in the drive-in lot.
MINI enthusiasts are invited to meet at a local GTA retailer to drive down as a group to Polson Pier. All MINI retailers in the GTA are designing unique, customized MINIs in celebration of the brand’s 50th anniversary. These cars will lead the MINI parade to Polson Pier.
Throughout the evening, MINI will be raising money for The Remix Project, an organization that helps youth achieve their goals of working in creative and cultural industries. The Remix Project helps young people by providing a fully operational creative facility (recording studio, video editing suite, design lab, business incubation centre) as well as pairing them with industry mentors, helping them with bursaries or scholarships for post secondary education, assisting them with internship searches, or offering information and support in applying for grants or loans to help them with their business ventures.
