Nissan Canada has just announced that their new GT-R supercar will be offered to Canadian shoppers with an MSRP of $81,900. The flagship performance car will go on sale this July at selected dealers across Canada as a 2009 model.
There's only one model available- though it's loaded with features like a powerful Bose audio system, navigation and high performance tires. Those are important- as early testing of the new model has revealed 0-60 acceleration times in the low 3-second range, with low 11-second quarter mile passes and equally impressive stopping power and handling.
Looks like the GTR is well on its way to international superstardom- having already laid down performance figures that challenge the likes of Porsche and Ferrari for a fraction of the price. GT-R has also lapped the famous Nurburgring circuit in a mere 7 minutes and 38 seconds. That's one of the fastest production-car times ever seen on the circuit.
The sole engine available in the GT-R is a hand-built 3.8 litre VR-series V6 engine. It makes 480 horsepower and over 400 lb.-ft of torque with some help from a twin-turbocharger system. Output is sent to all four wheels by an advanced AWD system and six-speed dual-clutch gearbox with paddle-shifters, which can change gears in a mere fraction of a second.
GT-R is available in six colors, too.
