Rounding out the bottom three positions were the Japanese; the Mazda5 mini-minivan, the ultra-tiny PSA-Toyota citycar triplets, and
the Yaris hatchback. The Mazda was the only minivan to make the shortlist, while the Yaris' last-place in the top seven is nothing to scoff at. Keep in mind, this list was narrowed down from 28 cars, including Porsche's new Cayman sports coupe, Mercedes-Benz's ultra-advanced S-Class and a favourite among our West Coast writing staff, the new Hyundai Sonata.
With many of the cars featured here running for North American Car of the Year, it will be interesting to see how Europe's picks fare when they're put before North American judges.
